Our Culture and Values

Rock Creek team members share a strong commitment to serve the local and global community. Our team members contribute to society in many different ways. We organize summer and school-year internship programs for students in the Washington, D.C. area; serve on boards of foundations, endowments, and other charitable institutions; and work on environmental, social and governance issues.

Charitable Giving

Rock Creek takes pride in our substantial support of charities dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of those in our communities. This includes charities championing disadvantaged and at-risk children, fighting against life-threatening diseases, and supporting conservation and the environment, among many others. We encourage our colleagues to donate their time and resources and to take leadership roles within their local communities.

From the time of our founding, we have been profoundly committed to diversity. We believe that individuals from different parts of society and the world working together as a team can generate original and sometimes surprising perspectives that are valuable to our firm and clients.

Rock Creek provides internship opportunities and mentoring in finance to inner-city teenagers and young adults. Over the years, we have provided numerous part-time and full-time opportunities to work as Rock Creek interns for the benefit of high school, college and graduate students. We especially try to recruit minority and other groups who are underrepresented in the financial community.

Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Issues

Rock Creek team members have a long history of working on ESG issues and are members of a number of environmental, social, and good governance organizations, including the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI), Hedge Fund Standards Board, and the Council for Institutional Investors. Many of our team members were prominent and early users of ESG criteria in portfolios and applied ESG criteria into the quantitative and qualitative assessment of projects. A number of our team members have been engaged in environmental, social and governance measurements since the 1980s and were involved at The World Bank in specifically creating and supporting the proactive management of the social and environmental dimensions of private and public sector companies’ business practices.
